Fish Dream

This part of Minnesota is very much a destination for people that like to fish.  There are many lakes-the land of sky blue waters.  I don't fish- did when I was young with my grandma.  I just had to do something about fish.  The background is done with a National Geographic and turpentine.  My friend Ann made a bunch of that and sent me a few pieces- I altered them more in Photoshop.  I cut the fish from some wrapping paper.  The photo is from some really old family ones and I have not a clue as to who it is.  Right now people in Minnesota are dreaming about fishing because we still have almost 2 feet of snow on the ground.  There is concern that the ice may not be out of the lakes in time for the fishing season opening in early May!

R.E.M. Dive

This one was fun for me.  I had all these parts that I had wanted to do something with and they just came together in this.  I titled it R.E.M. Dive- for the stage of sleep that often seems to elude me.  I sometimes have a lot of trouble getting good sleep.  I wanted to go for that dream state quality.  This one was hand cut and pasted.

Work Glove Story

I just finished this one.  The title of this post is the title of the collage- The background is an altered photograph and the rest is cut and pasted onto the background.  I think there are many jumping off points here for making up your own story.  I wanted to do a little one to go with this but have been busy with an online painting class I am taking.

Still Yearning

Well the yearning for spring continues.  Since I posted the first green collage we have had several snows and we are in a winter storm warning for tomorrow with snow in the forecast every day next week.  So this Green Coupon collage helps remind me that the color green will return here.  Hoping it is sooner than later.  Please send spring thoughts this way.

Crazy Guy Collaboration

My friend John Arbuckle  artjuvenation.blogspot.com came up with the idea of this Crazy Guy Collaboration.  We are part of a Gentlemen's ATC group and this project was something new for us.  John describes the details on his blog- (see the link above).  I had so much fun with this.  The squares are separate so we can mix and match.  The squares are three inches so the figures are 9 inches when they are put together.  I scanned mine in many different configurations before mailing them this week.  When the collaboration is complete we will each have 3 of our own and 3 from the other two making for many more possibilities.  These will find their way into my journal for sure!  This reminds me of the Exquisite Corpse game.  This article explains that. http://www.artesmagazine.com/2010/06/surrealist-art-form-exquisite-corpse-still-fascinates-artists-and-collectors/

Yearning

I have to say living in northern Minnesota is challenging this time of year.  Despite what the calendar says- we have a good 5 inches or more of snow on the roof yet and the depth in the yard space is perhaps 8 to 10 inches- much more in some spots.  So this hand cut and pasted collage titled Green is about that yearning that sets in now.  In a few weeks I will forget all about it as spring in the Northland is incredible.  Meanwhile I am trying to ignore the forecast of maybe 3 inches of snow this weekend.  I may have to make more green art!
