This collage is titled, They Were Not Part of the Machine. The part of this collage are a bit different. The background I made using some of that punchella and used colored pencil sticks- then scanned and altered it and then put it in the printer and printed the machine on top of it. Then I pasted on the altered old photograph of the two guys and the other two gauge pieces. This is perhaps about my partner and I being retired. What do you think?

Missed Opportunities
This collage is titled Missed Opportunities. The background is from a piece of paper a friend gave me- Citri Slov on a National Geographic page. I altered it and the rest of the collage is digital. There are many things this is about to me- some pretty personal family stuff for sure but it also has some basic meaning. We can let where we come from hinder us or we can choose to move on. I am so glad to say that I did move on! I strive to make the most out of my life.

Full Moon Dream
First off I want to thank those of you who stop by my blog to look and sometimes comment.
This one is another hand cut and pasted collage- Full Moon Dream. The chair in this one is a doll house chair- I had fun one time placing dollhouse furniture in different places in the garden and photographing them. The stairway is a photograph in the first house I lived in with my partner. It's fun to look over old photographs I have taken and scan them and give them a new context. Like the background of this- it is finally greening up around here!

The Wait is Almost Over
The title of this collage is Waiting For Our Chance. I did this about a month ago. I do not often do political art but this issue is near and dear to my partner and I. Minnesota made history today- The gay marriage bill passed the state senate- the house had passed it Thursday- our governor will sign it into law tomorrow making Minnesota the 12th state to legalize same sex marriage. It has been an emotional day to say the least. I had friends and former students call me with joy. My partner and I will celebrate 37 years together in June- lots to celebrate. I look forward to the day when this is legal in the whole country. A big thank you to all who helped make this happen.

Dream Birds
This is a hand cut and pasted collage titled Dream Birds. The background is an altered photograph I took of the stairway inside a lighthouse on the north shore of Lake Superior. I felt it had a dreamy quality. My partner and I love to watch the birds- we are looking forward to the return of many of our favorites.

Figure A
This one was really fun- I actually did this one quite a while back. I don't do symmetrical compositions very often but it seemed to work for this one. It's done with some old illustrations of perspective drawing and the heads are from an old anatomy book. The head in the center is part of a rubber stamp of Lynne Perrella's. This has a late 60s feel I think- sort of reminds me of The Yellow Submarine movie form the Beatles or maybe Peter Max.
