Love Will Get Us Through

I can't find who wrote this but I feel it is well said:
Do not pray for Orlando. If you're going to pray for anyone, pray for the members of Congress (111 Republicans - 2 Democrats) who voted against hate crimes legislation to help protect gay people. Pray for the politicians who stepped over the bodies of your dead children to collect campaign contributions and kick backs from gun lobbies. And pray for the multitude of Americans, who despite yet another mass shooting, will still deny we have a gun problem in this country. Pray for them. They need it more. The dead don't need your prayers.

Such a devastating event- 50 people dead- and so many injured- scarred emotionally and physically. Had to seek shelter in my journal to process. So many are targets- women, people of different races- and LGBT people. The hate is hard to understand let alone be one of the targeted groups. Letting my friends love pour into me. I had to get my feeling put into a visual form. Hug the ones you love and be kind to all you can- The only way I can survive this is with love. I send my love out to you all.

  2. A powerful post, Terry, and of course you know I love your pages. I have just heard that the shooter may have been gay, which makes this tragedy even more devastating. You are right that love is the way, and praying for those who are led by money, fear and hatred is the only way to defend oneself. We stand by you and with you! sending big hugs... xxx

  3. I so agree with you, Terry - only love with get us through. It's inconceivable to me that people could be so full of hate; every time something like this happens, I'm shocked all over again. The pages you share here are so powerful, and I'm thankful that we have art to help us process and get through this terrible time. Sending big hugs and many prayers. xo

  4. I have cried most of the morning after watching Anderson Cooper's eulogy of each of the 49 killed in Orlando. Thanks for expressing so well what needs to be expressed and thanks for creating a significant piece to express your feelings. Hugs.
