This hand cut and paste collage is titled: Art Education. The text parts are from an old art education textbook. You can read it if you click on the image to make it larger. I made this one a while back but still like it a lot. The photographic imagery is my own- the dishes are from a photo shoot I did at a junk shop. The buttons I spread out on the scanner and then altered that scan. The background is acrylic paint and the blue face is a rubber stamp.

Moose & Time
This hand cut and paste ATC is called Moose & Time. It started with the moose cigar band. I loved that and knew I would use it somehow. The little purple drawing is from an artist in Minneapolis- he would sell these tiny copies of his drawings as a set in a matchbox. I got a set maybe twenty years ago- I can't find his name anywhere so I can't give credit. I will keep looking. I am slowly getting better at using all this stuff I have collected. I do love the small size of the artist trading cards- it's a challenge and fun to do a composition in that small size.

Data Man
This collage titled Data Man is a hand cut and paste one. It all came together when I clipped those words on the purple background from a magazine article. It really made me think about the changes I have seen in my lifetime to date. in the early 80s when I finished graduate school- no one had their own computers.Yes it was just my portable typewriter. No spell check- just white-out. No cell phones...no internet. Now the world is so connected in some ways- can't imagine life without computers- they are as much a necessity for communication as they are an art tool for creating.

Two Blue Men
This collage titled Two Blue Men is a digital one. The two men are from an image CD that a man made for me- I was taking a class at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and he was the only other male in the class so we sat together- he saw the imagery that I liked and said he had something for me. Turns out at an estate sale he got a whole box of old photographs that were of someone's trip to Europe in 1902. He scanned them all and gave me a CD of those photographs. They were black and white of course so I tinted it. I haven't looked at that CD for a while now so I think I should do that.

Scissors & Barkringing
This one is called Scissors & Barkringing. This one is done on a painted background and the elements were cut out and glued. While I do enjoy doing some collage work digitally, I still really like to have all my collages materials strewn on my work table. I can pick and try different things right on the actual background. Guess I am old school in that I like having the collage elements in my hand. The older I get the more challenging the cutting gets with my X-acto. Not ready to give it up yet.
