The title of this collage is Yearning. The Gelli print background is one of my favorites. I have to say I just love doing those prints. It forces me to be open to not having control. The element of surprise in this process makes it almost addictive.
We are heading into autumn here in Northern Minnesota. This is my favorite season. It's a complex feeling I have- the colors can be so beautiful and I have learned what the term heartbreakingly beautiful means. Many emotions surface during this time of year for me at least- I reflect on what the summer was like- the beautiful colors make me appreciate the natural world and yet...there is that feeling of loss as the leaves eventually begin to fall leaving the branches bare.
I find that the feeling of yearning rises during this time of year. I use to mistake it for sadness but it is not that at all.
Very nice. Someday I'll have to have you show me how you do this. I love the muted colors and I love your description and explanation on the title.
ReplyDeleteThanks April- we should talk about an art play day out here-I can show you the gelli printing process.
DeleteGreat entry! I, too, love the fall. What isn't more beautiful than Mother Nature's paintbrush! You are a master at color and composition. Good show!
ReplyDeleteThanks John!
DeleteTerry,
ReplyDeleteYou know I love your work and my home is blessed with a few of your cherished works. As John said "You are a master at color and composition". I miss you! xoxo
Linda
p.s. I totally get the "mistaking for sadness" emotion. You are not only talented in the visual arts, you also write poetically!
ReplyDeleteStill miss you! xoxo
Thank you Linda-Your comments mean a lot to me. I could not have survived the last couple of years in the art department without your support!
DeleteAnother winner!
ReplyDeleteThanks Connie.
DeleteI love the Gelli print background on this one. It really does look like a landscape. This time of year gives me a mix of emotions, as does your wonderful post and image.
